Cyprus FSRU is a floating regas terminal under construction at the port of Vassiliko in the Larnaca district, Southern Cyprus. Plans for an LNG import terminal in Cyprus go back to 2009. The terminal was promoted as a good alternative to heavy fuel oil used at the 865 MW Vassiliko Power Station and to be used for residential and industrial purposes.In 2018, ETYFA, a subsidiary of the state-owned Natural Gas Public Company (DEFA), launched a tender to build the import facility.
