Discovered in 2016, Tortue is a giant, deepwater Cretaceous gas field straddling the border of Senegal and Mauritania. The field will be commercialised through LNG in phases. In February 2018, Mauritania and Senegal signed an Inter-Governmental Cooperation Agreement (ICA). The agreement splits resources, revenue and costs on a 50:50 basis between both countries under one 'unit regime', with agreed redetermination rules.Phase 2 has not reached FID.
