Report summary
Gudai-Darri (previously Koodaideri) commenced production in 2022 and achieved its nameplate capacity of 43 Mtpa in 2023. It will be part of Rio Tinto's wholly owned Hamersley group of operations. Previously planned phase 2 to lift the capacity to 70 Mtpa, by spending an additional capex of A$900M, is quietly pushed off. As per the recent plans, the company is now targeting a 16% capacity increase to 50 Mtpa by 2025 with an additional capex of A$100M. Also, mine will now contribute to low grade SP 10 products of Rio along with the Pilbara blend.
