Report summary
Marcona mine is a mid-sized surface mine controlled and operated by Shougang Hierro Perú. With a 20Mtpa capacity, it is located approximately 420 kilometres southeast of Lima, Peru. The project is the only large-scale iron ore mine in operation in Peru. It is one of the first mines acquired by Chinese steelmakers out of China as part of a strategy to secure their supply.
