In May 2002 Wheaton River Minerals acquired Minas Luismin (Corporation Industrial Sanluis) for $82.5M. The mine is in a remote location with poor access; the road is only passable in the 3 month dry season, during which time the bulk of the mine's annual supplies are trucked in.
