Xinjiang Qiya is owned by Qiya Aluminium. The smelter was commissioned in 2012 and includes a captive coal-fired power plant and coal mine as well as an integrated anode baking plant. The company has indicated an eventual capacity of 1.6Mt/a, although by 2014 only 400kt/a was commissioned. Total approved capacity is 800kt/a of which total capex, including the 1440MW power plant, is RMB11.8bn (US$1.8bn).
