The Bone Spring Formation comprises three stacked intervals: the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Bone Spring. These intervals include organic-rich mudstones, interbedded siltstones, shales, limestones, and dolostones. The Second and Third Bone Spring Sands are the primary targets for exploration, accounting for over 85% of overall Bone Spring activity to date. Currently, development efforts are focused on the Core North subplay, spanning Lea and Eddy Counties in New Mexico. This subplay represents more than 55% of Bone Spring drilling and completion activity and has been the most actively drilled and completed subplay in the Permian region since 2018.
