Bachaquero, part of the Bolivar Coastal Complex, was discovered in 1930 and contains some of the largest oil reserves in Venezuela. The field covers the area of production from both offshore Bachaquero Lago and onshore Bachaquero Tierra acreage around the coastal town of Bachaquero in the state of Zulia.
