Alaska's North Slope oil production currently exhibits high emissions intensity due to mature fields and aging infrastructure. However, new developments like ConocoPhillips' Willow and Santos/Repsol's Pikka projects are expected to significantly lower average emissions intensity by 2030. These modern projects incorporate efficient designs and advanced technologies to improve emissions profiles. State and federal regulations, including House Bill 50 and the Inflation Reduction Act, support emissions reduction efforts, potentially attracting international interest in Alaska's decarbonization initiatives.
