Report summary
On 16 October 2003, Niko Resources signed a joint venture agreement with BAPEX for the development and production of the Feni and Chattak fields. The deal provided the necessary capital investment required to renew the fields, which had ceased production in 1998 and 1982, respectively. Niko began gas production from the field in November 2004. In 2009, the High Court issued an order to Petrobangla to freeze payments to Niko for its production in Feni, until a resolution is achieved in the Chattak blow-out case.
