The Lancaster field is located in the UK's West of Shetland area, around 17 kilometres south of the Schiehallion field, and on the same geological trend as the giant Clair field. It is a fractured basement field which is a new play-type for the UK.The field was discovered by Shell in 1974 and appraised in 2009/10, 2014 and 2016/17 by Hurricane Energy.
