Pompano, comprising Pompano I (VK 990), Pompano II (MC 28) and Amethyst (MC 26), is a large shelf-edge oil field that straddles the border of Mississippi Canyon and Viosca Knoll. It has been developed in two stages. Phase I, which came onstream in October 1994, incorporated a 40-slot conventional steel platform with oil and gas processing and export facilities.
