Report summary
Sampang PSC is located offshore East Java around 60 kilometres from Surabaya. The block contains five fields - Anggur, Oyong, Jeruk, Wortel, and Paus Biru - of which only the Oyong and Wortel fields are onstream. Gas is supplied to the Grati power plant operated by PT PLN subsidiary PT Indonesia Power. Oil production ceased in 2017. Ophir Energy discovered the Paus Biru gas field in December 2018. In May 2019, Medco completed its acquisition of Ophir Energy and took over the operatorship of the Sampang PSC. Approved in 2020, the Paus Biru Plan of Development (POD) includes a single horizontal well and a tripod wellhead platform tied back to the Oyong facilities by a 27 km pipeline.
